
Dr. Saywan Barzani, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Rome, presented his letters of credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq in Rome to the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano on the 7th of July 2010.
The Ambassador Dr. Saywan Barzani was born in Erbil – Iraqi Kurdistan Region in 1972, married with three children.
He achieved the Degree in Law at the University of Orléans (France) as well as the Master Degree in Political Science – International Relations and Diplomacy in 2001 at the University of Paris I Panthèon – Sorbonne where he also obtained the Master degree in Political Science – Government, Political Institutions and Public Policies at the same University in 2002 and he then achieved the PhD in Political Science – University Paris I Panthèon – Sorbonne " Summa cum laude”.
The Ambassador started his career in 1992 as Coordinator of the Public relations office in Erbil, and in 1997 as a KDP representative in Europe. He held the post of Kurdistan's Regional Government Representative from the year 1998 to 2008. In July 2009 he was voted as Ambassador by the National Iraqi Council and in 2009 as Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq at the Ministry Headquarters in Baghdad and, in 2010 till present, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the republic of Iraq to Italy and as non-resident Ambassador to Malta.
