Martin Krottmayer is a Senior Advisor and Programme Manager currently focusing on Disaster Risk Reduction for emerging risks like nuclear or human induced hazards. He wrote the first guidelines for International Red Cross operations related to nuclear emergencies. He has been supporting various Red Cross/Red Crescent societies globally in building up relevant expertise and capacities to respond to emergencies. In relation with different stakeholders, he is frequently invited to hold presentations, both for IFRC senior management and important external partners.
Has more than 17 years of experience in the humanitarian and international development and cooperation sector. During that time, he has built up an extensive network, both on the operational level with a wide range of international and local organizations as well as with various donors. Prior to the Red Cross, he worked in the financial sector where he structured global investment projects as well as due diligence operations and risk mitigation operations. He worked and/or managed teams in Europe, Africa and Asia and has been requested by various organizations to support them in developing strategic plans as well as bankable/ fundable long-term programmes.
Martin studied in Austria at the Vienna University of Economics from where he holds an MBA and he also passed some part of his studies at the Ecole superieur in Angers, France. To foster his career in the international relief field, he attained an International Diploma on Humanitarian Assistance at the CIHC from Fordham University in the United States and a Diploma on Development evaluation in a specialized programme by World Bank and Carleton University in Canada.
