The increase in the migration movements in the Mediterranean towards Europe since 2014 – often defined as a “crisis” – has urged the EU member States and the EU institutions to elaborate welcoming and management policies, for stability and sustainability, respecting human rights. All countries of origin, transit and destination are called to cooperate and to find the most effective and sustainable long-term solutions, in name of a shared development. This volume is the result of an interdisciplinary academic collaboration between different authors from many countries, at sociological, political, economical, cultural level, applying both qualitative and quantitative methods.
