
Jaejoon Woo studied economics at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard in 1999. He worked at the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) in Paris in 2000-02 and 2009, and taught as an associate professor (with tenure) at DePaul University in Chicago during 2003-09. From November 2009 till July 2013, he worked in the Fiscal Affairs Department, and will work at the Research Department at the IMF beginning in August 2013. His research areas of interest are: growth and productivity, fiscal policy, political economy, and macroeconomics. His research work has been published in major economic journals, such as Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Public Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of Development Economics, Economic Inquiry and others, as well as in the working paper series of the IMF, OECD, ADB, and Bank of Korea. He is currently Associate Editor of International Economic Journal (a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal published for the Korea International Economic Association).
